Fear the Walking Dead

The AMC, The Walking Dead, has been a hit for the last 6 seasons.  Here’s the good news: TWD is now filming season 7, with its premiere in October ’16.  Here’s the bad news: the success of TWD launched a series with a concurrent storyline, Fear the Walking Dead.  Set in Los Angeles, California & Mexico, FTWD follows a blended, dysfunctional family as they slowly discover that a “flu” outbreak is something much worse.

As the story unfolds, it turns out that the “much worse” part is not the presence of the undead.  Rather, it is the plodding storyline, coupled with flat, uninteresting characters.  It is so badly written (except for the character “Daniel”), that you may start wishing for the undead to take out a few of the cast.  Unfortunately, the undead in FTWD are surprisingly tame and relatively few in number, despite the huge population of the LA basin.

FTWD is yet another example of successful writers/creators who cannot leave well enough alone.
